The DNA air filter is a high-flow filter made from a multi-layer cotton gauze that a manufacturer oils. This CBR 1000 RR-R Air Filter design allows the engine to take in a much larger volume of air compared to the more restrictive OEM paper filter. This improved airflow leads to better combustion, which in turn can increase horsepower and torque. Specifically, some sources claim a 22.21% increase in airflow over the stock filter. Manufacturers measure air-to-air flow at 219.00 CFM for the DNA filter versus 179.20 CFM for the stock filter. This also noticeably increases engine efficiency and throttle response, particularly at higher RPMs.
Unlike disposable paper filters, riders can wash and reuse the DNA air filter. With proper cleaning and re-oiling using a special kit, the filter can last for the lifetime of the bike, making it a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option. The “Full Contour design” (FCd) is a key feature of the DNA filter for the Fireblade; it maximizes the filtration area by precisely following the internal shape of the airbox. This eliminates “dead spots” and further optimizes airflow.
The DNA air filter is a simple “drop-in” replacement for the stock filter, so it requires no modifications for installation. This makes it an easy and effective upgrade for riders looking to improve their bike’s performance on both the street and the track.
