SC Project Adventure-R Titanium (2024) exhaust for BMW R 1300 GS
1. Overview & Fitment
The Adventure‑R Titanium is SC-Project’s officially homologated slip-on muffler for the 2023–2025 BMW R 1300 GS, including both standard and Adventure models. The 2024 version, listed under Part Number B40A‑T153T (or B40B‑T153T for the 2025 Adventure variant), meets Euro 5+ emission standards and holds road-legal certification across Europe and other key markets. SC-Project offers two finishes: natural titanium and matte-black ceramic coating.
Riders can install the muffler with a simple plug-and-play setup—no ECU remap or fuel adjustment is needed. SC-Project provides two versions: one compatible with BMW’s original side-cases (marked with “‑L”) and one for setups without side luggage. Selecting the correct variant ensures proper clearance and fitment.
2. Design & Materials
SC-Project constructs the Adventure-R Titanium using ultra-lightweight titanium, reducing the weight from the OEM’s 2.4 kg to just 2.0 kg—a noticeable 400 g savings. The end cap uses high-grade carbon fiber, contributing to strength and weight reduction. The link pipe and muffler feature TIG welds and CNC-machined bushings, reflecting the brand’s high standards of Italian craftsmanship.
For aesthetics and durability, SC-Project applies a laser-etched logo with a debossed design. The double asymmetrical outlet gives the exhaust a bold, aggressive look that enhances the R 1300 GS’s rear profile, making it stand out compared to the stock canister.
3. Performance & Sound
Dyno testing shows a performance gain of +2.1 hp and +2.4 Nm, both peaking near 6,000 rpm, aligning with the engine’s torque curve. While the increase is moderate, it contributes to better mid-range throttle response and more linear power delivery.
The 0.4 kg weight reduction also improves handling agility, particularly during technical riding or when transitioning through corners. Even this minor drop in unsprung weight can offer riders a more responsive feel.
SC-Project tunes the sound to deliver a deeper, more resonant exhaust note without exceeding Euro 5+ noise limits. Many riders praise the tone for adding excitement and a sporty character. However, removing the dB killer (baffle) significantly increases volume. On other SC-Project systems, users have reported sound levels exceeding 120 dB when uncorked—producing a MotoGP-like roar. While thrilling in short bursts, the noise can become tiring on long rides or urban commutes.
Although the Adventure-R remains quieter than SC’s race-spec exhausts (like the S1 or CR-T), it still commands attention. Riders looking for a tamer, more touring-friendly sound might prefer keeping the baffle installed.
4. Installation & Fit
Installing the Adventure-R Titanium involves a straightforward replacement of the OEM canister. SC-Project includes a bracket and spring system for secure mounting. Most riders can complete the swap using basic tools, and no ECU remap or tuning is required. The R 1300 GS’s modern ECU adapts well to the change, often compensating automatically through its fuel mapping logic.
While the slip-on design preserves the OEM catalytic converter, riders should avoid pairing it with extremely short or open pipes that alter backpressure. Some owners have reported that radical changes in exhaust configuration on modern BMW boxers can influence valve timing or engine smoothness. For best results, maintain the factory mid-pipe or use a cat-retaining link pipe when replacing only the muffler.
